From the staples like FOCUS leaflets, social media and member newsletters to the niche like podcast editing and creating props for publicity stunts, I’m keen not to box myself in with the services I offer.

But here’s a taste of some of the essential ways I can help support your local party with its communications…

Browse the essentials

  • A gold-clad FOCUS leaflet landing on doormats is the best way to show you’re working hard all year round. But pulling one together every 1–3 months? That’s no small task—especially without the right support.

I can help you create a sharp, professional FOCUS leaflet that grabs attention and keeps residents engaged with local news and campaigns. Whether you use one of my versatile A3/A4 templates or opt for a bespoke design tailored to your local party, I’ll make sure it looks the part.

    Here’s what I can do:

    • Design a polished, professional bespoke leaflet template

    • Liaise with campaigners for content and review

    • Populate templates with text, images, and graphics.

    • Proofread and copy-edit FOCUS stories.

    • Write stories based on detailed bullet-point briefs you provide.

  • When you’re sending out a street letter or paper petition, chances are you need to get news out or rally support for a campaign quickly.

But let’s be honest—you don’t have time to write and design a letter, let alone sit there losing your mind watching a mail merge progress bar crawl along at a snail’s pace.

Whether you use one of my versatile templates or need a bespoke design for your local party, I can take the stress out of the process and get your mailings out the door—fast.

    Here’s what I can do:

    • Design a polished, professional bespoke letterhead/petition/survey/thank you card template

    • Liaise with campaigners for content and review

    • Populate templates with text, images, and graphics.

    • Proofread and copy-edit text.

    • Write copy based on detailed bullet-point briefs you provide

    • Run simple and complex mail merges

  • You’ve put in the work all year round, you’ve got a team of volunteers ready to hit the streets— this is the moment when what you deliver to voters matters most. I can help you make a vote-winning difference by arming you with impactful and striking election literature that’s sure to blow your opponents away.

I’d strongly recommend making the most of the ALDC’s election leaflet deals—they’re great value, and I can take those templates and supercharge them. Whether it’s perfectly placing your local content, refining the layout, and adding unique twists to make them stand out, I’ll make sure your message lands with impact.

How do I know it works? Because I’ve done it before! In 2024, I worked with the Bristol Lib Dems on their ALDC three-leaflet deal, producing literature across four wards. You can check them out here.

Not using an election leaflet deal? No problem! I can still put together Magazines, Flying Starts, FOCUS Election Specials, candidate CVs, and Get Out The Vote materials to help make every vote count.

  • Social media can be tough to keep on top of. Sometimes, it’s easier to just repost national content—but that’s not what makes the Lib Dems stand out. We’re community champions, and our social feeds should reflect that.

Spreading awareness of local issues, promoting local campaigns, and raising the profile of local campaigners are all critical to showing your community that your local party is active, engaged, and fighting for them.

    Here’s how I can help:

    • Evergreen content – I can create reusable Affinity or Canva templates for breaking news, new petitions, councillor profiles, and more—so you have fresh, engaging posts ready to go at any time.

    • Campaign-specific content – Need a series of posts responding to your council’s budget? A social campaign to save your local library? I can step in to create high-impact content tailored to the fight at hand.

    • Ongoing social media management – Want to keep things running smoothly over time? You can contract me for a few hours a week over several months to manage your accounts—creating proactive campaign content, responding to local developments, engaging with followers, and growing your reach.

  • I hate to break it to you, but most of your residents’ primary source of local news isn’t your FOCUS leaflets! To get the word out about your latest community initiative, you need to land it on one of those ad-laden Reach news websites, in the local paper, or on your local radio station.

That’s where I come in. I’ve got experience securing media coverage, building relationships with journalists, and crafting compelling press materials. So whether you need help with a single press release or a full media strategy, I can support you.

    Here’s what I can do:

    • Write, copy-edit, and format press releases, statements, op-eds, and media advisories.

    • Build a contact database of local journalists.

    • Respond to media enquiries and requests for comment.

    • Organise media interviews.

    • Distribute press pieces.

    • Devise a local party or election media strategy.

  • It goes without saying—keeping your members engaged with your comms is just as important as reaching voters. After all, they’re the ones driving your campaigns forward.

I can help make sure your members stay in the loop on what the local party is doing and, crucially, how they can get involved—whether that’s through volunteering, securing donations, attending events, or shaping the party’s future.

    Here’s how I can help:

    • Member mailings – Designing physical newsletters using my pre-made template, coordinating with the local party exec, and copy-editing content for a professional finish.

    • Digital member mailings – Creating email newsletters, designing layouts, and coordinating with the exec on production.

    • Online engagement – Keeping members connected by regularly posting news updates, event invites, and Action Day details in Facebook Member Hubs.

  • Any good campaigner knows that your website should be the anchor point for all your digital communications. Social media posts and newsletters are only effective if they drive people to your website—where they can actually take action. Whether it’s signing a petition, volunteering, donating, or joining the party, your website is where engagement turns into real impact.

But getting someone to click is only half the battle. Once they land on your site, it needs to be clear, compelling, and action-driven, guiding them seamlessly towards that next step.

With the move to Fleet-hosted websites, you may need help making sure yours is working as hard as possible for your local party.

    Here’s how I can help:

    • Content planning & layout – Making sure your site has the right information in the right places to encourage sign-ups, donations, and engagement.

    • Website management – Keeping things fresh by uploading news articles, councillor profiles, campaign pages, and more as needed.

  • Every leaflet, social media post, and press release should have a purpose. But without a clear strategy underpinning your comms, how do you know it’s doing what it’s meant to do?

Without a strategy, it’s easy to put out content that feels productive but isn’t actually effective. Are you reaching the right people, on the right platforms, with the right messages? Are your outputs cohesive, consistent, and impactful? Do you have processes in place to plan, review, and improve?

Instead of bringing me in to run your comms day-to-day, you might prefer to put me in the thinker’s seat—to build a tailored, practical strategy that sets your local party up for success. I do the thinking, you implement the plan.

What does a comms strategy from me look like?

    • SWOT Analysis – A full review of your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats to identify what’s working and where to improve.

    • Priorities & Objectives – Working with you to set clear, realistic goals that match your team’s capacity.

    • Audience Action Plan – Mapping out your key audiences, what you need them to do, what will motivate them to do it, and the barriers that might stop them—which we’ll find ways to overcome.

    • Key Messaging & Tone of Voice – Defining what you should be saying and how you should be saying it, so your comms are clear, coherent, and compelling.

    • Channel & Content Guide – The best platforms for your messaging, what kind of content to post, and best practices for making an impact (plus “banana skins” to avoid!).

    • Processes & Planning – Setting up workflows for drafting, reviewing, and evaluating success, along with a starter content plan for social media, literature, and press.

  • Comms work best when everything is pulling in the same direction. If you’re running a campaign to save your local library, you don’t just want to fire off a few social media posts and hope for the best. You’ll need a dedicated campaign page on your website where people can sign a petition. You’ll want to get the press on board, highlight the issue in your FOCUS leaflets, and rally supporters through emails and newsletters.

While I’m happy to fill the gaps where needed, sometimes what a local party really needs is someone to take charge of everything. That’s where I come in.

I can plan, create, and manage all of your comms—press, social media, website updates, newsletters, and leaflets—so that everything is joined-up, professional, and working towards your goals.

This is easily achievable by contracting me for 1–2 days a week. That might sound like a big commitment, but check out my flexible pricing below—taking me on long-term could actually save you money compared to hiring me for one-off tasks.

Plus, by having one person overseeing everything, you ensure a clear, consistent approach across all your communications.

Flexible Pricing

I get it—local parties aren’t swimming in cash. That’s why I keep my pricing as affordable as possible. The more support you need, the cheaper my rate—simple as that.

 FAQs

  • 1️⃣ Reach out – Use the contact form to get in touch, including a brief summary of the support you’re looking for.

2️⃣ Exploratory call – I’ll arrange a no-obligation call to discuss your needs in more detail.

3️⃣ Quote & recommendations – I’ll follow up with a quote outlining the deliverables, estimated hours, and costs based on our discussion.

4️⃣ Refining the plan – If needed, you can tweak the quote by adjusting deliverables or specifications.

5️⃣ Getting started – Once you’re happy, just drop me an email to confirm. Depending on the work, we may have a quick check-in to go over timelines, key contacts, and any final details.

6️⃣ Invoicing – Invoices are issued at the end of the work. If the work spans multiple months, you’ll receive an invoice at the end of each month covering the hours spent that month, with payment due within 30 days.

  • Changing Deliverables

    • Because I charge an hourly rate rather than fixed packages, adjusting the agreed deliverables is simple.

    • You can request that I reallocate any unused hours to a different task.

    • Changes will be accepted at my discretion, depending on whether they fall within my skill set. (For example, I’m happy to shift hours from social media to leaflets—but not to baking a cake for your volunteers!)

    Requesting Additional Deliverables

    • If you need extra support within the same timeframe as the original quote, I’ll issue a variation order (VO) for you to confirm. This will then be included in your invoice as part of the original work.

    • VOs count toward my flexible pricing structure. For example, if the original quote covered less than a day’s work, but the VO pushes the total beyond a day, then both the original and new work will qualify for a discount.

    • If the additional work falls outside the timeframe of the original quote, a new quote will need to be issued.

    • If the new work starts within a month of the original quote, it may still qualify for a discount if the combined total takes you over a pricing threshold. However, the original quote will remain at the agreed-upon rate.

    Cancelling Work

    • You can cancel my services at any time if you no longer require support.

    • However, you will be responsible for paying for any time already used up to that point.

  • I’ll keep track of the hours I work for your local party—but I won’t be sitting there with a stopwatch.

I understand that unforeseen circumstances can crop up, and sometimes things take a little longer than expected. Don’t worry—I won’t be sending emails asking for more money over an extra hour or two. My priority is getting things right, so within reason, I’m happy to put in a little extra time to make sure everything meets the standard your party needs.

    • If added requests from your end cause significant extra work, I’ll issue a Variation Order to cover the additional hours.

    • If delays are on my side, I’ll take full responsibility, and you won’t be charged for the extra time.

What if things take less time than expected?

Just as I won’t charge extra for going slightly over, I won’t quibble over small time savings either. If there’s only a small amount of time left unused, I’d prefer to round things off with an extra social media post or another small task to bring us to time.

    • If there’s a significant amount of unused time, I’ll adjust your invoice accordingly.

    • If the time saved is minor, I’d appreciate the same good faith I offer when projects go slightly over.

I won’t be regularly checking in on time used unless (a) you request it or (b) we have a long-term contract spanning multiple months. I’d rather work in a way that’s built on trust and flexibility. At the end of the day, I’m a Lib Dem—I’m not here to drain party resources.

  • For FOCUS leaflets, election leaflets, letters, petitions, and surveys, I offer both pre-made and bespoke templates. Here’s the difference—and my recommendation on which to choose.

    Pre-made templates

    • I offer three professionally designed template styles to suit the look and feel of your local party.

    • Since these templates are already designed, turnarounds are faster, and costs are lower—your content simply needs to be placed professionally.

    • However, because these are my templates, I won’t be able to send you the Affinity files once the work is complete, meaning you won’t be able to adapt or reuse them.

    Bespoke templates

    • A completely custom design, tailored specifically for your local party.

    • Since you’re purchasing the template design, I’ll provide the Affinity 2 file (not compatible with Affinity 1) so you can reuse and adapt it in the future.

    • However, bespoke templates take longer to create, come with a higher upfront cost, and require someone on your team with the skills to edit them properly.

    Which should we go for?

In 90% of cases, pre-made templates are the better option.

While bespoke templates give you something to reuse, free templates are already available from HQ and ALDC. Plus, you’ll still need a skilled volunteer or staff member to properly place content into the design.

The real value I bring isn’t just in making templates—it’s in ensuring every leaflet looks and reads as professionally as possible. With my pre-made templates, you can get your materials designed, printed, and delivered quickly and cost-effectively without compromising on quality.

  • I try to keep things flexible, but there are a few red lines that might be helpful to know upfront.

    • Can you travel to our office/constituency? If you’d like me on the ground, I can occasionally travel to your area—but this depends on (a) my availability, (b) your party covering travel expenses and (c) the work being comms-related (e.g. I can take photos for social media and leaflets, but I won’t be able to travel to lead an action day).

    • Can you manage our local party’s TikTok? I’m happy to manage Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, Bluesky, and Threads, but I won’t manage TikTok due to personal privacy and security concerns. However, I can still create content for you to post on TikTok.

    • Can you support campaign-related activities? I keep a clear line between comms and campaigns. While I won’t design local campaigns, set election plans, or call around your volunteers, I can help communicate your local campaigns, craft election messaging, and produce materials to support volunteer mobilisation.

    • Can you handle direct voter contact? I focus exclusively on communications. While I can create scripts and materials for canvassing, phone banking, and surveys, I won’t be making calls, knocking on doors, or organising canvassing sessions.

    • Can you provide printing services? I don’t print materials myself, but I can liaise with printers, ensure files are print-ready and organising delivery to your offices.

    • Can you build or host our website? I can manage and update your website’s content, but I don’t build websites from scratch or offer web hosting.

    • Can you train our volunteers or staff? Yes! I can provide informal, online training on things like social media best practices or FOCUS leaflet design.
